Who are you?

AirFlow Pro was established in 2022 by a coalition of UK-qualified mechanical engineers, building-services consultants, and indoor-air quality (IAQ) specialists. Recognising growing concerns over energy costs, workplace health, and regulatory compliance, we set out to create a centralised hub of best-practice HVAC and ventilation knowledge tailored specifically to the UK market.
Our team includes chartered engineers (CEng MIMechE), CIBSE-accredited Low-Carbon Consultants, and IAQ researchers affiliated with leading universities (e.g., UCL, Strathclyde). We partner with industry bodies—CIBSE, BESA, and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers—to ensure our content reflects the latest guidance in Building Regulations Part F (ventilation) and Part L (energy efficiency).
AirFlow Pro operates across three pillars: System Design & Sizing, Installation & Commissioning, and Maintenance & Compliance. In System Design & Sizing, we provide detailed calculators and worked examples for ductwork, fan selection, and thermal comfort modelling (PMV/PPD). Installation & Commissioning offers step-by-step procedures, safety checklists, and commissioning-test templates. Maintenance & Compliance covers planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules, filter-change protocols, and IAQ monitoring strategies using particulate, CO₂, and VOC sensors.

We also publish case studies from UK projects—retrofits in Victorian schools, net-zero offices in Cambridge, and hospital-grade cleanrooms in Birmingham—to demonstrate real-world applications. Monthly webinars and CPD courses keep M&E professionals up to date on emerging technologies: heat-pump integration, UV-GI air disinfection, and smart-building automation. At AirFlow Pro, our mission is to raise the standard of indoor air and energy performance across the UK, one building at a time.

Our edge

  • UK-Specific Regulatory Expertise

AirFlow Pro’s content is meticulously aligned with UK Building Regulations—Part F (Ventilation), Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power), and the latest Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) transpositions. We decode legal requirements into actionable design parameters: minimum fresh-air rates per person, extract-air strategies for kitchens and washrooms, and leakage limitations for ductwork. Our downloadable compliance checklists and template U-value and airflow reports ensure that projects pass Building Control inspections and SAP/ SBEM energy-rating assessments without delays.
  • Advanced Sizing & Simulation Tools

Our interactive DuctSizer and VentSim modules let you model complex HVAC networks in minutes. Input room dimensions, occupancy profiles, and heat-gain schedules, then visualise airflow patterns, pressure losses, and noise levels. The tools recommend fan curves, duct diameters, and diffuser types that optimise energy use while maintaining thermal comfort (95% satisfied range per CIBSE Guide A). Export CAD-compatible layouts and detailed equipment schedules for seamless hand-off to installers and BIM models.
  • Energy-Recovery Ventilation (ERV/HRV) Expertise

As energy costs rise, ERV and HRV systems are critical for sustainable buildings. AirFlow Pro provides performance comparisons—sensible and latent heat-exchange efficiencies, bypass strategies, frost protection controls—for leading UK and European manufacturers. Our design guides cover plate-type vs. rotary heat exchangers, cross-contamination risks, and maintenance access requirements. Real-world payback calculators incorporate UK electricity and gas tariffs, CNG rebates, and carbon-price projections to quantify ROI and carbon-reduction benefits.
  • Comprehensive IAQ Monitoring & Remediation

Healthy indoor air requires more than basic ventilation. We offer protocols for multi-parameter IAQ assessments—PM₂.₅/PM₁₀, CO₂, VOCs, humidity—and recommend sensor placements to capture representative data. Our remediation guides include HVAC filtration upgrades (MERV 13+ filters, activated carbon), UV-GI installation in ductwork, and portable air-cleaner deployment strategies. Each solution is backed by health-impact studies (e.g., reduced sick-building syndrome, improved cognitive function) and tied to UK HSE workplace-air guidelines.
  • Field-Tested Installation & Commissioning

AirFlow Pro’s commissioning workflows mirror real-world site conditions: from pre-installation inspections of plantrooms, pipework, and duct supports, through spigot-seal integrity tests and balancing-valve calibration, to final smoke-test visualisations and sound-level measurements. Our commissioning certificates and punch-list templates are accepted by principal contractors and Building Control bodies nationwide. We also provide video tutorials on best practices—duct-sealing techniques, refrigerant charging, and VAV-box calibration—to upskill on-site teams and reduce rework.
  • Ongoing Maintenance & Support

Long-term performance depends on proactive upkeep. Our PPM schedules define filter-change intervals (per EN 16798), coil-cleaning methods, fan-bearing lubrication, and sensor recalibration. Subscribers gain access to our UK-wide network of BESA-certified service contractors, 24/7 remote support for fault diagnosis, and a spare-parts portal with next-day delivery options. Quarterly IAQ and energy-use reports track KPI trends, highlight anomalies, and recommend tune-ups—ensuring systems operate at peak efficiency and extend asset lifespans.
